What to Expect in the EYFS

Homework

From term 2 we will be sending learning logs home every Friday with a piece of homework in the middle of a double page. The learning logs should be returned to school by the following Wednesday.There will be some helpful information for parents inside the front cover and our tricky words for each phonic levels will be in the back of the book.

At English Martyrs' we use Twinkl  to teach our phonics programme

Level 1

Phase One activities are arranged under the following seven aspects.

■ Aspect 1: General sound discrimination – environmental sounds

■ Aspect 2: General sound discrimination – instrumental sounds

■ Aspect 3: General sound discrimination – body percussion

■ Aspect 4: Rhythm and rhyme

■ Aspect 5: Alliteration

■ Aspect 6: Voice sounds

Level 2

We are learning to read and write with these graphemes and phonemes. The grapheme is what we write to represent the sound. The phoneme is the sound that we say for that letter or group of letters.
