Year 6 Residential - Memories of May 2024

Here are details of the activities our adventurers completed...

Passport To The World

Children were given a map with a mixture of flags located around the site. Teams were required to answer questions in order to complete the challenge.

Jacob's Ladder

A series of logs suspended horizontally with progressively wider gaps. The aim was to climb the giant ladder using only the logs and each other for support.

Survivor

Children made dens, lit fires and developed their skills of survival.

Giant Swing

This challenge was the ultimate test of nerve as the team hauled their friends up to 10 metres in the air before pulling the ripcord to release the swing.

Aeroball

Basketball on a trampoline - almost as exhausting to watch as to participate in!

Problem Solving

Groups were required to solve puzzles, make decisions and communicate with others to accomplish a series of thought provoking tasks

Disc Golf

A cross between golf and frisbee - the children competed in teams across a 9-hole course.

Climbing

Children showed great perseverance when scaling the climbing wall - it was a long way up!

Fencing

Children developed strategies and tactics to outwit their opponents in this Olympic sport.

Raft Building

Each group worked together to build a raft from different components - they then needed to float and steer it successfully on the water.

Abseiling

Children were encouraged to abseil down a very high tower! All showed great bravery in getting to the top of the tower...even if they chose the stairs as a method of returning to solid ground.

Rifle Shooting

Children were required to concentrate, have steady breathing and a good eye of accuracy when completing this activity. Lightweight air rifles were used within a purpose built range.
